Target Go International 5 Year Anniversary Limited-Edition Collection: Casual ChicTarget Go International 5 Year Anniversary Limited-Edition Collection: Evening Out

Sometimes there’s the fashion regret, no, not like buyer’s remorse, but where you lust away for something fabulous and forget to snap it up before it’s too late. Second chances in shopping rarely happen, so buyers mark your calendars for March 13 when Target re-releases their greatest hits from five years of GO International® designer collaborations. 34 dresses at reasonably affordable prices from $24.99 to $44.99, will hit the floor and be stocked online at Target.com through April 10, 2011.

So thank the fast fashion gods that they’re giving you another chance to shop your favorite designers such as: Luella Bartley, Tara Jarmon, Paul & Joe (by Sophie Albou), Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler (by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez), Libertine (by Johnson Hartig), Alice Temperley, Erin Fetherston, Jovovich-Hawk (by Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk), Rogan (by Rogan Gregory), Richard Chai, Jonathan Saunders, Thakoon (by Thakoon Panichgul), Tracy Feith, Rodarte (by Laura and Kate Mulleavy), Zac Posen and Tucker (by Gaby Basora).

Here are my favorite picks from the 34-piece limited-edition collective. Check back the week of March 13 for direct links for no-hassle shopping.

Desigual at WWDMAGICChristian Lacroix for DesigualMannequins at Desigual Lacroix for Desigual hang tagWho doesn’t love them a little bit of Lacroix? Start practicing on the pronunication because you’ll soon be seeing Desigual all over stateside thanks to their fantastic design and this upcoming capsule collection with none other than Mister Christian Lacroix. The Barcelona based company is bringing their Spanish flair overseas and sharing it with American fashion loving counterparts. Touted as the “More for Less” brand, it could very well be that Desigual will expand like wildfire through the U.S. much like Zara, their Spanish brethren of fast fashion.

Upon walking into WWDMAGIC, one could spot Desigual’s expansive booth from miles away and no matter where you turned someone was toting their namesake carryall. Champagne, cheeses, and fruits tempted palates while live art installations of painting on models and constructing a large gown from magazines were a visual treat.  The booth was constantly filled with life and much traffic a buzz; not only about the Lacroix collaboration, but about Desigual’s gorgeous women’s and menswear in their regular line.  Chunky knits, coats, and jackets lined walls as bags, jewelry, and accessories were a hot commodity to view. Even printed underwear were screaming to be donned, as fashion does begin from the inside out.

After speaking with Manel Jadraque, the Chief Operating Officer of Desigual, I learned more of the intricacies of the collaboration and inspiration that brought this dream collection to fruition. Lacroix is known for designing statement pieces that are dripping with glamour, drama, and intensity.  The luxurious use of the well known and favored fabrics of velvet, satin, taffeta and collage of patchwork and striped patterns give the look of haute couture at prêt-à-porter price points. The capsule collection is to release Autumn/Winter 2011-12 with 40 garments beautifully designed by the famed French couturier.  Due to the response and success of the initial debut, expect a Summer 2012 collection to release with even more strong and vibrant pieces.

WWDMAGIC Skybox

It’s a bird… It’s a plane… No, it’s WWDMAGIC Teen Vogue Bloggers in the Skybox!

Here are some amazing views from the sanctuary in the sky, a small lounge to rest tired soles, engage and network with fellow fashionistas, and nibble in between panels and booth viewings. WWD conducted select interviews with certain bloggers, so be on the look out!

Look out onto the floor where the business of fashion is taking place at a rapid pace, and plot our your plan of attack of which vendors and booths to hit up.

Crowd intently watching the Teen Vogue Blogger Panel

If you missed out on the fabulous panel “So Your A Blogger? Now What?!” about how to build a career out of blogging, you’re in luck for the replay. The informative panel was curated by Macala Wright Lee of @FashMarketing with Crosby Noricks of @PR_Couture, Erica Domesek of @PSIMADETHIS, Jane Aldridge of @Sea_Of_Shoes, Hilla Ohayon of @HillaO, and Elizabeth Weinger @EWeinger from StyleSection LA.

Some of my favorite highlights were:

  • Has fashion blogging reached a saturation point? @PR_Couture & @psimadethis believes there’s still fresh perspectives & new POVs
  • Don’t dilute your blog or brand for money. – @psimadethis

Parasol Down at the Wynn

Famished and filled with pre-trade show excitement, fellow WWDMAGIC bloggers and I went in search of some food that would satiate our voracious Vegas-sized appetites. While the Wynn never disappoints, Elizabeth Wahler and Mariah from Ladylux, Nicole Giordano from Startupfashion, and Elim Chu from the Style Seen joined me at the Lakeside Grill where you can have dinner with a view.

While  I committed carbocide on crab cakes and truffled mac and cheese, the food was not even the highlight of the dinner. Conversing with like minds and with women of similar passions and backgrounds, enlightened my evening as our discussions encompassed current fashions and events to future foresights.  How amazing is life when a platform of social media brings people together to become socializing for a larger purpose?  Then a cleverly named “A Sweet Cart Named Desire” tempted our tastebuds, but alas we did not indulge as we had our waistlines to watch for the first big day at WWDMAGIC.

WWDMAGIC Central HallDesigual Booth at WWDMAGICWWDMAGIC Baggage

After suffering a flight between a horrible snorer and a flatulent chatty Kathy; arriving to the Las Vegas Convention Center for a sneak peek of WWDMAGIC before the doors opened to the public with the other Teen Vogue bloggers was quite the visual treat. All the man hours and effort that come together to make one of fashion’s largest trade shows happen is quite awe inspiring and much appreciated.  Macala Wright Lee of FashionablyMarketing.me, is the mastermind and coordinator of this years new social media experience that I’m honored and proud to be apart of.

Even before all the booths and Teen Vogue Blogger Lounge were completely finished and with the red carpet rolled out, the expansiveness of the trade show was beyond overwhelming.  This year, being on the press side rather than the brand side brought a whole new perspective complete with Twitter-tired thumbs and snap happy fingers.

How important is fashion to me during WWDMAGIC? Well for my five day stay, I managed to pack three suitcases and have them all take up my second bed at my hotel.  So, follow my Twitter @kimmyhuynh for the up-to-minute action in Vegas, and check back for the latest trends and fashions coming straight from the floors of WWDMAGIC.  If you’re still itching for more, peruse the other great content aggregated at on the WWDMAGIC Tumblr.
