Whenever your fiending for the latest fashion news and trends, you’re always one click away from getting your daily fix of Because I’m Addicted. Geri Hirsch, the mini mogul-in-the-making, is the brains behind the successful blog and a budding new business venture. She is like the wiser, cooler older sister you wish you had that is always aware of all the hotspots, next big thing, and gives the best fashion, boy, and business advice. You’ve seen her in the pages of Lucky, modeling for brands like Botkier and Bird for Juicy Couture, probably even run into her at NYFW, or scouring for some vintage finds at the Melrose Trading Post. Geri is a tastemaker, bonafide mover and shaker, and my personal brunch buddy. So I am more than happy to introduce my new feature “Inside the Blogger’s Studio” for a glimpse into the lives of our favorite fashion bloggers, their favorite sunglass picks, and how blogging has affected their lives. Thanks Geri for kicking this off with me! xo.
You’ve traveled the world and attended some major fashion weeks, all due to blogging, what has been your hands down favorite blogging experience?
The first NYFW show I attended was Alexander Wang Spring 10 at Pier 94 and it was pretty unforgettable.
It was raining, but still warm. The street style photographers were out in droves snapping away as the traditional who’s-who Wang crowd trickled in: A-dubz, it girls galore and all the favorite Europeans. And then there were the girls who walked: Magdalena Frackowiak, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Freja Beha Erichsen, Isabeli Fontana, Natasha Poly, Lily Donaldson, et al. The music was so loud – I could feel it in my bones. I was glowing; in fact, I was so excited that it was almost embarrassing.
Who do you think is at the top of the blogging game currently? Faves, loves, hates?
Rumi Neely is ruling the world and really paving her own path and the path for many, many others. Hate is for the haters.
Who are your fashion inspirations and how would you describe your sense of style?
Editors: Taylor Tomasi-Hill, Christine Centenera, Miroslave Duma, Anna Dello Russo and Hanneli Mustaparta (she counts as an editor, right?).
Celebs/Models: Kate Bosworth, Diane Kruger, the Olsens, Kate Moss, Dree Hemingway and Chloë Sevigny.
Socialites: Victoria and Vanessa Traina, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, Dasha Zhukova and Alexandra Richards.
I think clothes should inspire confidence and look for pieces that do just that. I’m part investment buyer, part avid vintager, have a weak spot for Zara, ankle boots and too many accessories. When mixed and matched all together, it’s somewhere between simple and fresh, topped with untamed hair.
You were always my go-to LA girl guide when I was living there, can you drop 3 of your favorite LA spots for our readers?
What’s a day in the life of because i’m addicted like – the norm and the crazy?
Too busy. Too, too busy.
What are you plans for 2011 or what do you envision in store?
I’ve been working on a brand called LEAF for over six years and there is nothing more that I’d like to see launch in 2011. We are pretty close. I also have a little capsule collection coming out which is part of a bigger and really amazing project.
What does Full Time Fabulous mean to you?
Follow your dreams!
