Last Sunday, I was invited out to the Old Monk for some good ol’ Pumpkin carving and pints with the ladies to bring back the childhood nostalgia (minus the alcohol of course!). Lay down 10 bones and you got in return a pre-hollowed pumpkin larger than the size of your noggin, kid proof carving kit, and a pint of your favorite ale. Definitely, not a bad way to start a Sunday Funday.
Two broken saws later, many pints downed, and eight cramped hands made for a couple of girls covered in pumpkin mess; however, beaming proudly of our newly DIY festive art. A word to the wise, either carve your pumpkin RIGHT before Halloween or cover ALL exposed flesh with Vaseline to keep from shrinkage and molding. Sadly, I learned the hard way and Mr. Owl didn’t make it all the way to Halloween, but he did have a smashing good time in the end.
